Solar Halo on November 1996
by Peter Enright

Solar Halo

Peter Enright (TV Producer/cameraman) took this photograph of a Solar Halo. It was taken in Chukotka (north eastern Russia) during a documentary filming assignment in November 1996. The air temperature at the time was about minus 45 Celsius. This is a still photograph taken from video.

Peter (shown above) submitted both these photographs after reading an article from Reflections of the University Lowbrow Astronomers that described an observation of another Solar Halo.

For more information read this article: “Three Rising Suns” by Chris Sarnecki. This article includes a sketch of a Solar Halo.
