The article by Gary Seronik in the September 2004 issue of Sky & Telescope magazine inspired me to make a mosaic of the gibbous moon from some images I took on Wednesday, September 22, 2004. This shot is a mosaic of four overlapping images taken through my 8-inch f/8 Newtonian reflector, with Televue 14mm Radian eyepiece, using a Nikon Coolpix 800 digital camera. I used ArcSoft’s Panorama Maker to create the mosaic. After a few attempts, and fooling around with some of the settings, this is the result - totally automatic. I didn’t have to manually adjust the edge matches at all, although I did do a little clean-up around the limb afterward using Paint Shop Pro.
