Star Tracks, December 1979
by Peter Alway

Photo Taken During the Geminid Meteor Shower

Peter took this photo during the Geminid meteor shower in December of 1979. He believes this was the first night-time outing of the University Lowbrow Astronomers to Peach Mountain. Certainly it was the first all-night expedition.

The outline of the McMath telescope can be seen in the photograph.

The lines in this photograph are stars, not meteors. The motion of the earth causes star positions to change over time, resulting in these lines.
