Comet 17P/Holmes
Comet 17P/Holmes
by Frank Suits
This is an image Frank Suits
took in his C11 last night (October 25, 2007). It shows the nucleus of comet 17P/Holmes. On the left is the raw image and
on the right is wavelet enhanced. You can see empty wake behind nucleus and some jet
structure maybe.
Here is another image of the comet from Frank using his C11 with Hyperstar f/1.8.
“Note the view is very fore-shortened since it is pointing at us. The field is about
1x0.75 degrees.
This is a stack of 75 1minute exposures.... Tail is faint, but there....”
