M65 and M66

Image of M65 and M66. It was constructed from 12 frames of 120 seconds and 13 frames of 60 seconds using a Canon 30D camera at ISO 1250 and a StarMaster 14.5 inch F4.3 telescope. The frames were taken at Peach Mountain (located near Dexter, Michigan) on May 29, 2010.
M65, M66 and NGC 3628 form the Leo Triplett (NGC 3628 is not shown in this photo). All three are spiral galaxies located about 35 million light years away. M65 and M66 were discovered in 1780 by Charles Messier.
