Saturday Morning Physics (April 2005)
During the fall and winter, the University of Michigan Physics Department hosts
a series of multimedia presentations called Saturday Morning Physics.
These presentations are aimed at the general public. Generally you can
find several Lowbrows in attendance. (The Lowbrows are an amateur astronomy
club based in Ann Arbor). The following photographs were taken on Saturday, April 23, 2005, during Saturday Morning Physics.
April 23: Physics DemoLab Staff Mark Kennedy, Harminder Sandhu & Warren Smith gave a talk entitled
“The Art of Physics Demonstrations”
Here Mark Kennedy sets up some equipment
Warren Smith demonstrates two ways to generate electric fields
Mark and Warren talk to visitors
Some Lowbrows after the talk
Lowbrows sometimes play practical jokes.
Five Lowbrows demonstrate one joke that never got used. These 9 sheets of paper
(which spell out the words “Take Cover”) were later presented to Warren as a gift.
