“Matthaei by Moonlight” at the Matthaei Botanical Gardens

Setting Up Telescopes at Matthaei Botanical Gardens
(August 5, 2000).
From time to time, the University of Michigan’s Matthaei Botanical Gardens hold special events
called “Matthaei by Moonlight.” At these events the Lowbrows set up telescopes
that visitors can look through.
- To the Left: Mark Deprest with the club’s 10” SCT (an SCT is a type of telescope).
- To the Right: John Causland and his C-11 telescope.
John and Mark are in the process of setting up and aligning the telescopes.
They had to contend with clouds during the evening. Later on rain showers
developed and they had to scramble to dismantle the equipment.
