Editorial Board Positions
Purpose
The Michigan Journal of Business is a bi-annually published academic journal intended to provide undergraduate students with a platform to put out exceptional work in the field of business. MJB seeks to publish distinguished theses, empirical research, case studies, and theories in issues relating to areas of Economics, Finance, Marketing, Management, Operations Management, Information Systems, Business Law, Corporate Ethics, and Public Policy.
Eligibility
Any students from the Ross School of Business, LSA, or the Ford School of Public Policy, with a cumulative GPA of 3.6 or higher will be eligible to apply for a position at the Journal. Students with a GPA under 3.6, however, may apply for a position at the Journal if he or she is endorsed by a faculty member (in such cases, the faculty must email their endorsement of the student to willmoon@umich.edu). While some editorial positions for the Journal will be reserved for Ross students, the Journal seeks qualified students majoring in Economics and other relevant majors.
Why Join?
The editorial board for the Journal will require a cohesive group of intelligent students that bring passion to the process of intellectual learning. Such learning is a desirable quality that most graduate and professional school programs (including law schools) seek in their prospective students. Sitting in the board of an academic journal, traditionally, signifies highly qualified students for them. Additionally, the cohesive nature of the board will allow you to network with some of the top students from the business school. This year, the board members of the senior class will include summer associates from highly prestigious firms such as Morgan Stanley, and a class valedictorian.
Criteria
MJB is looking for students that will bring dedication to the board. MJB requires time commitment. Most of the time commitment will be flexible, as students will be expected to review submitted manuscripts independently. Your sample paper, coupled with your GPA, will primarily be used to measure writing and intellectual skills necessary as an editor.
Application
Interested students are encouraged to submit an application via email to willmoon@umich.edu as an attached file, along with a writing sample.
