Oh dear, you have a configuration problem.

I have a business which looks after several RedHat 6.1/netatalk
214/37b servers. They are all used in a production environment, one
of which is used by an award winning design company serving over 25
designers. 2 years ago, we upgraded that customer from WinNT 4 (due
to stability issues AND LOTS OF DAMAGED DOCUMENTS from NT going down.
Now, this client is VERY happy, and puts up with the small niggle
which is the alias thing. They use Quark, so it is not an issue when
it comes to linking. Freehand is the only bugbear for them. We have
all their workstations on MacOS 8.1 for pre G3 machines (with
Appleshare client 3.8.3), or MacOS 9.0.4 for G3/G4s(with Appleshare
Client 3.8.6)
I suggest you review your configuration, as we have found
netatalk214/37b runs VERY well on over 20 Servers nationwide (in
different customer sites). We have used it for over 3 years, and have
not got any major problems with it (apart from aliases - which is not
fatal)
