Sounds like...
(1) resource fork corruption (file permissions on .AppleDouble dirs),
(2) corruption caused by line feed translation,
(3) some other configuration error.
More info needed.
Please supply at a minimum to the list...
(1) Server platform & OS version.
(2) Netatalk version.
(3) Workstation OS & version.
(4) Current netatalk config settings.
(5) Log file output (/var/log/messages or similar).
(6) Customisations performed by the installer.
Supplying this information will help all of us to help you.
Netatalk is a very reliable server. I constantly use server volumes with
more than 10,000 (ten thousand) files without problems. The netatalk
version in use is: netatalk-1.4b2+asun2.1.4-39_test on NetBSD/i386 1.4.1.
