Egyptian Mythology

The religious beliefs of the ancient Egyptians were the dominating influence in the development of their culture, although a true religion, in the sense of a unified theological system, never existed. The Egyptian faith was based on an unorganized collection of ancient myths, nature worship, and innumerable deities. They believed in the concept of life after death, which led them to perfect the art of embalming and drove them to build the magnificient pyramids and tombs. They believed that all the elements and forces of nature were controlled by the gods. They passed down these beliefs through tales and stories that contained both entertainment and moral value.

Haouamine A:

As humans, we are constantly trying to explain the mysteries around us. Much of the ancient egyptian engineering and religion/mythology still remains a mystery, but more and more is discovered as we explore the remains of their kingdom. Likewise chemists come across molecules that they which to synthesize, but can only do so after research and trial and error. Off of the coast of Spain, Scientists came across Haouamine A, a compound that is selectively potent against the HT-29 carcinoma cell line. We have made some advances and have a hypothesis regarding this molecule and its synthesis.
