About the WGC
The University of Michigan Women's Glee Club is a choral ensemble representing undergraduate and graduate women from diverse fields across the U of M campus. Composed primarily of non-music majors, WGC gives female students the opportunity to express their love of music through performance, community outreach and travel. As a club, WGC allows students to meet a wide variety of friends who share a common interest in music. Founded in 1893, the WGC has a long history of enriching the university community and the lives of our hundreds of alumna. As we look to the past for inspiration, the members of the Women's Glee Club focus on the future and strive to become an enduring tradition at the University of Michigan.
The Women's Glee Club is both a student organization and a one-credit course. We rehearse each Thursday and Sunday at 7:00-9:00pm at Lecture Room 1 in the Modern Languages Building.
Auditions
The University of Michigan Women's Glee Club welcomes absolutely everyone into the club. Auditions usually consist of a range check, some sightreading, and a simple song, usually the Star Spangled Banner or Silent Night, though you may prepare a song if you wish. To receive more information about auditions, e-mail [email protected].
As mentioned above, we rehearse each Thursday and Sunday from 7-9PM at Lecture Room 1 in the Modern Languages Building. Attendance is required, though two unexcused absences are allowed. If participating in the Fall term, we also require that you sing Blues before a home football game two times, at the very least. We hold a concert each term, and attending the concert is required. We ask that you commit to the full Fall or Winter term.
