FWIW, we were having real problems with this, but turning off the
byte-range locking code (-DUSE_FLOCK_LOCKS in the makefile) fixed it.
Quark files would get a corrupted resource fork frequently enough to
be a problem if the person working on them saved the file directly to
the server.
