Drawing on her extensive interactions with Japanese
companies, Renge Jibu will discuss the recent trends in the
Japanese workforce and their impact on gender and family relationships.
She will cover a number of issues, including: how Japanese business
units have become friendly to working women in recent years,
how gender diversity affects profitability, how sexual harassment
is handled in the work place, the dilemma that single women
in their 30s face, and how one's knowledge of gender can be
used in the business community.
Ms. Renge Jibu has worked for
Nikkei Business and Nikkei Business AssociƩ for six yearsand
has written prolifically. She focuses on gender issues in the
workplace and has conducted extensive research on this subject.
She is a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the Center for the Education
of Women for 2006-07. Her current research topic addresses family
role models in the United States.
