In the defense of New York City, Optimus Prime was able to fend off Megatron of the Decepticons but in doing so sacrificed his life to Megatron's blade. In an effort to revive Optimus, Sam must go to Petra, where rumors tell of the Matrix of Leadership that Dynasty of Primes hid. At Petra, Sam is able to find the Matrix of Leadership necessary for the revival of Optimus and destruction of the Decepticons. But, The Matrix of Leadership Sam finds is in its inactive form. To activate the Matrix, Sam must form a highly reactive epoxide ring on the correct C=C double bond in the molecule out of four. Using a combination of MTO, UHP, N-methylimidazole, and MeOH, Sam is able to stereochemically choose the correct C=C and create only one product.
With this product, Sam is able to use the active form of The Matrix of Leadership and save Optimus. As Sam rushes off from Petra to go back to the body of Optimus Prime in New York, Fenzy scurries after him. Will Sam make it in time?
