Notes about the parents of Lee Becker:
1903 Erich Becker arrived in New York on August 30 on the ship Moltke which departed from Hamburg on August 19. He was age 16 and his nationality was German. His last residence was Nichorz. He was going to New Ulm, Minn. His passage was paid by his uncle and he had $10. He was going to join his uncle Rolf Kinger in New Ulm, near Fairfax, Minn. [1] In the Hamburg emigration list, Erich Becker, 16, born 1887, was from Nichorz, Westpreußen. His occupation was "Landmann, Tagelöhner." [2]
1920 In the U.S. census on January 5-6, Eric Becker (age 33), his wife Mary Becker (age 24), his daughter Elsie Becker (age 4 6/12) and his son Lowell Becker (age 1 10/12) lived in Sunrise Township, Chisago County, Minnesota. Eric was born in Berlin as were his parents. He was a manager of a general farm. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1903 and was naturalized in 1913. Mary was born in Minnesota, her father in Berlin and her mother in Minnesota. Both children were born in Minnesota. [3]
1920 In the U.S. census on February 19, Carl C. Seger (age 26), his wife Agnes A. Seger (age 22), and daughter Edith E. Sager (age 1) lived in Elkmount Township, Grand Forks County, North Dakota. Carl immigrated in 1902 and was naturalized in 1918. Agnes immigrated and was naturalized in 1916. They were both born in Sweden as were their parents. Edith was born in North Dakota. Carl was a farmer on a general farm. [4]
1930 In the U.S. census on April 21, Eric C. Becker (age 45), his wife Mary E. Becker (age 34), his son Lowell E. Becker (age 12), his daughter Shirley Ana E (age 3 2/12), and his mother-in-law Lottie Holznagel (age 59) lived at 5754 26 Air So in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Eric and his parents were born in Germany. Mary was born in Minnesota, her father in Germany and her mother in Minnesota. Lottie's parents were born in Germany. The children were born in Minnesota. Eric was a laborer in a foundry. He had immigrated in 1903 and was a naturalized citizen. When they married, Eric was age 29 and Mary was age 19. [5] [6]
1930 In the U.S. census on April 24, Carl L. Sager (age 47), his wife Agnes Sager (age 33), daughters Lylas (age 9) and Helen (age 8), and sons Ralph (age 6), Arthur (age 4 4/12), and Kenith (age 2 6/12) lived at 5613 35 W So, in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Carl and Agnes and their parents were born in Sweden. The first three children were born in South Dakota and the other two were born in Minnesota. Carl was a janitor in a steel mach. Carl's year of immigration was 1905 and Agnes' year of immigration was 1916. both were naturalized. Carl was 34 and Agnes 19 when they were married. [7] [8]
1940 In the U.S. census on April 8, Lowell E. Becker (age 22) and his wife Lilas I. Becker (age 19) lived at 107 Spruce Place in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Lowell was a maintenance man in a bottling works and was born in Minnesota. Lylas was born in North Dakota. Lowell and Lylas were living in the same same city in 1935. [9]
1940 In the U.S. census on April 13, Carl Seger (age 56), his wife Agnes (age 42), daughter Helen (age 17), sons Ralph (age 15), Arthur (age 14), and Kenneth (age 12), daughter Joyce (age 9), and son Paul (age 7) lived at 3936 37th Avenue So, in Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota. Carl was a janitor in a steel works, and Agnes was a janitress in an office building. [10]
1941 Lee Alan Becker, son of Lowell Ernest Becker and Lylas Ione Seger, was born on August 5 in Hennepin County, Minnesota. [11]
1993 Lowell Ernest Becker died on December 23, 1993 in Crow Wing, Minnesota. [12] His last residence was Crow Wing, Minnesota, and he was born on 8 February 1918. [13]
2014 Lylas Becker died on September 20 in Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colorado. [14]
