1671/1672 William Lindie wrote his will on March 7. "Wills E. p. 152. Will of William Lindie, Paget, March 9 [sic], 1671. Wife Emlen. Daughter Ann. Son William. Daughters Sarah, Bridget, and Joanna Young. Granddaughter Elizabeth Good. Son in law George Good. Daughter Ann, sole Executrix. Mr Henry Moore & Capt. Philip Lea, Overseers. The last will & Testament of me William Lindie of Pagett Tribe in ye Islands being week & Sick but in perfect Memorie
Imprimis doe give my bodie to ye earth from whence it came, And my Soule unto ye Almighty God my Creator In & through ye death & pashion of his onely begotten Sonn my Lord and blessed Savior Jesus Christ my Sole & only Redeemer who liveth for ever: died for ye greatest of Sinners of wch I am Cheife, but belive in him only
Item It is my will & Testament that after those debts that I doe Justly owe to any person or persons whatsoever be deuely paid & my body decently Intered, Its my will to dispose of that estate God hath given me bee disposed of as Followeth
Item I give & bequeath unto my dearly beloved wife Emlen Lindie for & during her widdowhood or untill her day of death: All my whole estate for her Comfort & livelyhood Except as Followeth
Item I give unto my dearly beloved daughter Ann Lindie the Negro boy called Phillipp and ye best of my fether beds with boulsters Pillows Blanketts Rugg Curtaines vallence & what ever else shall belong to ye same
Item I give unto my sonn William Lindie payable in ye Country Comodies Twentie Shillings in Case ye said William Shall in person demand ye same: Not otherwise
Item I give unto my daughter Joane Young payable as aforesaid one pound Ten shillings
Item I give unto my daughter Sarah payable as Aforesaid Three pounds Sterl[ing]
I give unto my daughter Bridget ye first Negroe Childe that shall be borne of ye body of my Negroe Woman after these presents and one Ledar Chest at my Beds feet in ye Middle roome and three pounds sterl[ing] payable as aforesaid
Item I give unto my Grand daughter Elizabeth Goode payable as Aforesaid Two Pounds Sterl[ing]
Item I give unto y Sonn in law George Goode one shilling payable as aforesaid
Item Its my last Will and Testament That my Daughter Ann Lindie be my whole Executrix of This my will and that after mine & my wifes deathe she Except what is before Excepted or at my wifes marriage one bedd furnished for my wifes use excepted shall to her owne proper use enioy my whole estate
Item Its my will That Mr Henry More & Capt Phillip Lea be ye overseers of this my Last will & Testament and to see all things performed therein as they shall think meet & Convenient According to ye true Intent and meaning thereof. In witnesse hereof I have hereunto put my hand & Seale this present 7th day of March Anno Dom: 1671
