1777 John Weigle, son of Peter Weigel and Magdalena, was born on April 26. John was baptised on June 22 at the Christ Lutheran Church in York, York County, Pennsylvania, with sponsors uncle Sebastian Weigel and wife. [1]
1781-1790 John's father Peter Weigle was in the Continental Army making firearms and had moved to North Carolina by 1790. Peter died in North Carolina around 1799.
1800 John Wikle lived in Morgan, Rutherford County, North Carolina in a household with males: 2 (16 thru 25); and females: 1 (45 and over). [2]
1812 John Wikle and others were named in a court order to lay out a road in Haywood County. [3]
1812 Land of John Wikle and Lewis Smith was mentioned in several court orders. [4] [5]
1814 John Wikle was found guilty of bastardy by the Haywood court. He had two base born children with Sarah Hickey (now Sarah Grace) named Samuel Hickey and William Hickey. [6] [7]
1815 John Wikle purchased land from Lewis Smith in Haywood County, North Carolina. The land was on Richland Creek and had been granted to John Wikle and Lewis Smith as tenants in common on December 15, 1804. [8]
1819 John Wikle and Lewis Smith of Haywood County, North Carolina purchased bounty land in Illinois from Private Daniel Perry. [9]
1820 John Wickle lived in Haywood County, North Carolina in a household with males: 1 (26 thru 44); and females: 2 (16 thru 25). [10]
1821 Aaron Deviney transferred land in Rutherford County to John Wikel. Aaron may have originally transferred the land to Peter Wikel, deceased, but the deed was lost. A new deed transferred the land to John Wikel and other (unnamed) heirs of Peter Wikel. [11]
1824 John Wikle of Haywood County, North Carolina purchased land from the estate of John Strother. The land was on Richland Creek in Haywood County. [12]
1824 Mr. Avery brought suit against John Wigel, Lewis Smith, and Martin Buff in the Buncombe County Court (then Haywood County) regarding a land dispute. The land was on Richland Creek in Buncombe County (then Haywood County) and had been granted to Mr Avery in 1792. [13]

1827 John Wikle purchased land at a sheriff's sale in Haywood County. [15] [16]
1827 John Wikle and three others were party to a deed dated December 18, 1827. The tract of land was described in a deed dated in 1885. The 1885 deed stated that all four of the men named in the 1827 deed were deceased in 1885. [17]
1830 John Wikle (age 50-59) lived in Haywood County, North Carolina. Lewis Smith was listed nearby. [18]
1840 John Wikel (age 60-69) lived in Haywood County, North Carolina. [19]
1840 John Wikle sold land to David Howell in Haywood County. The land was on Richland Creek. [20]
1844 A suit was brought in court against John Wikle and the heirs of Lewis Smith in Haywood County. [21]
1845 John Wikel posted bond to appear in Waynesville before the Haywood County court in March 1846 regarding a case involving the heirs of Lewis Smith. [22]
1852 John Wikel was to appear before the Haywood County court regarding the estate of George R Smith and involving the heirs of Lewis Smith. [23]

A different John Wikle was also born in 1777 in Pennsylvania. He moved to Ohio in 1812 and married Catharine Shirer. He died in 1829. [25]
