Notes for Walton Staton

1841 Walton Staton and wife Mary were named as heirs of Charles Southerlin, deceased, at the Greenville, South Carolina court. [1]

1845 Walton Staton of Henderson County provided security for debts of Anderson Staton of Rutherford County, North Carolina. [2]

1849 Walton Staton died in December.

1850 A handwriting witness testified to the signature of Walton Staton who had witnessed a mortgage made by Anderson and Sarah Staton. Walton Staton was now deceased and Reuben R Staton the other witness was out of the county. [3]

1850 The estate papers of Walter Staton were recorded in Henderson, North Carolina. The names of the heirs are not recorded consistently. [4]

1850 Mary Staton and George Allen were appointed as administrators. Image 1079. Or perhaps Meredith Freeman was the adminisrator. Image 1077.

1850 Mary Staton was named as the widow. Image 1079.

1850 Polly Staton complained that she was the widow entitled to the third dower and that "The said Walter Staton left surviving him the said Nancy, Martha, Benjamin, Anderson and Reuben Staton, his only heirs at law; all of whom are infants and under the age of twenty one years, and they have neglected and refused to assign to your oratrix her dower in said lands." 1855 Jesse McMinn, guardian of minor heirs Anaren [Andrew?], Anderson, & Ruben of Walter Staton recorded his account. Image 1134 and 1136 and 1138 of estate papers.

1860 Robert and wife Martha Neely were named. Image 1143

1860 D.G. Mc Corson and wife Sarah J Mc Corson complained that Robert and Martha Neely, A.J. Staton, J.W. Staton, and R.S. Staton are tenants in common as the heirs at law of Walter Staton. Image 1150. image 1161 clearly reports name D.G. Mc Carson.

1860 The five heirs are named (incorrectly?) as D.G. Mc Corson and wife Sarah Jane, Anderson J Staton, J.W. Staton, Rebecca [Reuben?] S Staton, Robert Neely and wife Martha Neely. Image 1171.

1860/70? The heirs included D.G. Mc Corson and wife Sarah Jane who brought suit against minors Andrew I Staton, J.W. Staton, Reuben S Staton. marriages are recorded. Image 1175-1183.

1850 Nancy Staton (age 45, born in North Carolina) lived in Henderson County, North Carolina, in a household with Nancy Staton (13), Martha Staton (12), Betsy Staton (10), Anderson Staton (8), and Rebecca Staton (6). [5]

1860 Mary Staton (age 40) lived in Henderson County, North Carolina, in a household with Andrew Staten (16), Andeson Staten (15), and Reuben Staten (11). [6]

1867 G.W. McMinn, guardian of the minor heirs of Walter Staton gave an account for Anderson and Andrew Staton. [7] [8] Was Reuben deceased by this time?

1870 Mary Staton (age 55, born in South Carolina) lived in Glassy Mountain, Greenville County, South Carolina, in a household with Andrew Staton (26). Mary Staton's occupation was keeping house. [9]

1858 R B Neely and M L Staton were married on January 7 in Henderson County, North Carolina. [10]

1860 Martha Neely (age 19) lived in Henderson County, North Carolina, in a household with Robt Neely (25), and Mathew Neely (1). [11]

1870 Marth Neely (age 57(?), born in South Carolina) lived in Boyd, Transylvania County, North Carolina, in a household with Wm Neely (29), Martha S Neely (19), and Mathew M Neely (11). [12]

1880 Martha Neely (age 43, born in South Carolina, widowed) lived in Glassy Mountain, Greenville County, South Carolina, in a household with Mary Slater (70), and Mary Neeley (18). Martha Slater's parents were both born in South Carolina. Martha Slater was a farmer. [13]

1928 Mary M. Hipps, spouse of JB Hipps, died on March 17, at age 67y 2m 17d in Green River, Henderson County, North Carolina. She was born in 1861, daughter of Robert Neely and Martha Staton. [14]

1857 David G McCarson and Nancy Staton were married on August 12 in Henderson County, North Carolina. [15]

1860 Nancy McCarson (age 21, born in South Carolina) lived in Buncombe County, North Carolina, in a household with D G McCarson (29). [16]

1861 David G McCarson died on January 1 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. [17]

1865 Thomas M Lance and Nancy L McCarson were married on July 30 in Buncombe County, North Carolina. [18] [19]

1870 Sarah Lance (age 31, born in South Carolina) lived in Bent Creek, Buncombe County, North Carolina, in a household with Thomas Lance (39), Louisa Lance (3), Martha Lance (40), and James Mccarson (8). [20]

1880 Sarah J. Lance (age 41, born in North Carolina, married), wife, lived in Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina, in a household with Thos M Lance (50), Jas H Mc Carson (18), Luella Lance (13), Martha Lance (10), Salena Lance (7), Mary Lance (4), Martin Lance (4), and Reubin Lance (1). Sarah J. Lance's parents were both born in South Carolina. [21]

1914 Andy Staton died on December 27, at age 71 in Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina. He was born in 1843 in Madison, North Carolina. [26] [27] [28]
