The notes for son John Jeremiah Cochran (1817-1859) of Newton County, Georgia are part of our research of collateral Cochran lines of Nancy Cochran [1], spouse of Isaiah Pickett (an ancestor of Robert Wolfe). We have found many descendants of John Jeremiah Cochran (1817-1859) with DNA matches to Robert and other descendants of Nancy Cochran, suggesting that John Jeremiah and Nancy are closely related on the Cochran line. We do not know specifically how John Jeremiah might be related to Nancy Cochran Pickett. John Jeremiah was born about 25 years later than Nancy. We currently show him as a nephew of Nancy, but we will change these notes if and when we find clarification of their relationship. These notes are included here to give access our notes about John Jeremiah and to allow Ancestry.com to identify possible DNA matches with Robert.
We have found another older Jeremiah Cochran listed in tax records dated between 1802-1812 in Morgan County and Clarke County, Georgia. We suspect that these two Jeremy Cochran men might be father and son, as we currently show in the notes. However, we have found no evidence of a relationship between them other than this coincidence of name-place-date.

DNA John Jeremiah Cochran. Several descendants of Isaiah and Nancy Cochran Pickett are DNA matches to both Robert Wolfe and the descendants of Jeremiah Robert Cochran (1817-1859). We suspect that Ellen (born c 1848), spouse of Isaac Parker, was a sister of Jeremiah R Cochran, both children of John Jeremiah Cochran. A descendant of John Jeremiah Cochran reports that John Jeremiah's mother was named Morgan and that he had siblings named Nancy, Morgan, Thomas, William, Melissa, and Susan. Robert Wolfe has several DNA matches (administered by Charles Venable) with descendants of Ella Cochran (1848-1927), spouse of Isaac Parker (1852-1931). Several of these share matches with other descendants of Nancy Cochran.
