The Murff genealogy reports [1]:
William Cockerham, son of Capt. Wm. Cockerham, was b.1659, d. 1707. This William, or William, 2nd., declared to be of full age Nov. 2, 1689, as eldest son and heir of Capt. William Cockerhan and Ann his wife. Wm. Cockerham, 2nd. married prior to July 3, 1686, 1st Hannah, who joined him in a deed of that date, and 2nd. William m. Mary _?. William, 2nd. wi11 - dated July 22, 1706, probated March 4, 1707, mentions his brother, Thomas, his wife Mary, and son William under age in 1706 (Davis wills, and J. B. Boddie's Southern Historical Families, Vol.3, p.184-187).

In the name of God, Amen. I, William Cockerham of Southwark Parish, in the County of Surry, being very sick and weak of body but in perfect memory and mind thanks be to Almighty God for the same, I do therefore make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and forms followeth; I hereby revoke all other wills by me heretofore made.Item: I give and bequeath my clothes and apr. shoes stockings to my brother Thomas Cockerham.
Item: I give and bequeath all my remaining part of my Estate after my just debts are paid to my loving wife Mary and my son William, to be equally divided between them share and share alike and that my son Willim,-be for himself and have his Estate paid him at eighteen years of age.And lastly, I appoint my Dear wife Mary my sole Executor to see this my last will performed, witness my hand and seal the 22nd day of Jan., 1706.

The Goforth account of the family of Captain William Cockerham fails to mention grandson Henry and argues that John Cockerham was not a son of Captain William Cockerham [2]:
12. William Cockerham [II] born 1659; died 1706 [Will probated March 9, 1706-1707 Surry County; married 1st to Hannah [Last name unknown]; married 2nd to Mary [Last name unknown], Mary is listed as Executrix in the Will.
William [II] and his brother Thomas were Surry Footsoldiers in the Bacon Rebellion of 1687.
Many notes have been found on Capt. William Cockerham's son's, William and Thomas.
"1687 Surry County, Va. Militia -Wm. listed "For Foot"; Thomas in same group. [Vol. 2, p. 101].
"1686 3rd day of July Ano Dom; 1686 Deed from Wm. Cockerham, son and heir of Capt. Wm. Cockerham late of the pish and County aforesaid [Lawnes Creeke pist (Parish) 'Tenn thousand pds. of good tobacco and caske' for 'two hundred and fivety acres scituate between Lawnes Creeke and Chip Oaks in the County aforesaid (Surry). Land was sold to Robert Canfield." signed Wm. and Hannah Cockerham "Ct. July 6, 1686 Ack'd by Wm. and Hannah relinquished her 'rt of Dower'."
Order Book A, page 326, 9 br, 2nd, 1680; "William Cockerham, son of Capt. Wm. Cockerham, dec'd having proved himself of full age by the oath of Timothy Essell in Court and the oath of Horton taken before Mr. David Crafford of James City County, it is therefore ordered that Chas. Amry deliver him his Estate."
Deed Book 3, page 44, 4th Jan. 1685/6; "Wm. Cockerham [no wife signing] sold Wm. Harris 150 acres of land in Hog Island Maine part of pattent for 1350 acres granted Mr. Wm. Spencer, late of the County, dec'd, on the 10th of Feby. 1637 and from said Spencor descended to me."
Order Book A, page 521, July 6, 1686; "William Cockerham and Hannah his wife, acknowledge deed to Robert Caufield."
Deed Book 3, page 73, 19th 9 br 1686; "Deed from William Cockerham to Robert Caufield for several parcels of land, Hannah, wife of William Cockerham signing with him."
Book 6 page 361, Dated Jany. 22, 1706/7; Probated Mar. 9, 1706/7, Will of William Cockerham of Southwark Parish, Surry County; "I William Cockerham of Southwark Parish, in ye County of Surry... Clothing to Brother Thomas Cockerham. All other property to be equally divided, share and share alike to my loving wife Mary and my son William [his to be paid when he becomes 18 years of age]. Wife Mary sol Exr. Witnesses Nath Harrison, John Griffin, John Bentley."
