1847 Widow Mary Staton and their children were named in probate records in Greenville, South Carolina. 1) Silas Pace and wife Evelina. Residents of Henderson County, North Carolina: 2) Benjamin Staton (John W Hodges assignee), 3) Joseph B Staton, and 4) Rubin Staton. Minors under age: 5) Elijah T, 6) John A, 7) Trulove, 8) Anderson, 9) Ambrose.[5] [6] Walton Staton was named as a "next friend" of the minor children. John Hodge purchased land from the estate from widow Mary Staton. The land was on the north fork of Saluda River adjoining land of James Staton and Walton Staton.
1858 Two deeds were recorded involving the heirs of John Walter Staton. Both were Witnessed by T.V. Rhoads and James B Ward and were dated December 28.
1858 Benjamin W Staton, Rubin W Staton, Anderson R Staton, Ambrus P Staton, and Champness Forrester and wife Trulove sold land to Elijah T Staton, all of Henderson County, North Carolina. The land was 160 acres on the waters of Packlet in Henderson county, being part of the estate of John W Staton, deceased. Adjacent land was owned by Champness Forrest and Anderson Staton. The deed mentioned the old house, the Towas line, a grant to Samuel Gordon [Staton] bought by the said E. T Staton. Affirmed October 9, 1869. [7]
