A Columbus Boy Who Has Been Missing For Some Time Located by an Advocate Reporter Yesterday.

He Claims That He Lives In Newark With His Step-Parents who Treat Him Unkindly.-He Will be Returned to His Parents in Columbus.

Postmaster J H. Newton has received the following letter from a lady residing in Eastern Ohio, which explains itself:

STARTLE, O., Jan. 24, 1894. To the Postmaster, Newark, Ohio SIR-'I desire to know whether or not there is a family by the name of Linard, living in Newark. On Saturday Jan. 20th, a small boy came here and gave his name as William Harvey Linard He claims his parents are dead, but says that he has a step-mother and step-father who are not good to him. He says his step-father's name is John Henderson, and that he resides on Main street in Newark. The boy is about fourteen years of age, has light hair and dark eyes and is very smart for one of his age. We think, perhaps, he has run away from home, and that some one is worrying about him. He is being well taken care of here, but if he has parents who treat him right, he should be at home with them If you can let us know anything about his people we would be very glad to hear from you.' MRS WM BAINBRIDGE,

Immediately upon receipt of the letter an ADVOCATE reporter was detailed to work the matter up, and with that in view started out. After tramping over the city for several hours, the scribe finally struck a clue and learned that Mrs Nancy J Ricketts who keeps a boarding house on East Main street, could throw some light on the matter. Calling on that lady the reporter was informed that the boy alluded to in the letter was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Linard, who resides at 303 North Park street, Columbus. She said that Mr. Linard had moved from Dennison to Newark about four years ago, but that he has resided in Columbus for the past three years; that the boy, who is aged about twelve years, has several times run away from home, remaining away for months at a time She also said there was no truth in the boy's story; that he was treated kindly by his parents, except when punished for running away from home. The parents have worried considerably over his absence, and they will be glad to learn that he has been kindly cared for. He will, no doubt, be sent for immediately.
