1840-45 Georgia tax records list Thomas G Cochran in Morgan County, Georgia. Earlier listings (1813-1820) name Thomas Cochran of Baldwin County, Georgia (see Research Notes, below):

The tax records list Sugar Creek as the watershed where several of the Cockrams of Morgan County, Georgia lived. (Little) Sugar Creek in Morgan County is a tributary to Lake Oconee in Georgia 30650. Just south of Little Sugar Creek is Paschal Road, which joins Cochran Road near Clarks Fork Creek. Little Sugar Creek joins Sugar Creek north-east of Harmony and Sugar Creek Trail is along the north shore. Downstream, near the Parks Mill Road bridge, are the Sugar Creek Fire department, power launch, boat ramp, and marina. [1]

1850 Thomas G Cochram (age 29, born in Georgia) lived in Roswell, Cobb County, Georgia, in a household with Julia A Cockram (22), and Elily Cockram (0). Thomas G Cochram was an overseer. [11]

Phenix City, Alabama and Columbus, Georgia are different political names for the twin cities on the two sides of the Chattahoochee River. They are effectively a single urban area. Phenix City is in both Lee and Russell Counties in Alabama.

1860 Thomas Cothran (age 37, born in Georgia) lived in Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia, in a household with Julia A Cothran (33), Emily E Cothran (14), John H Cothran (8), Charles W Cothran (5), and Susan A Cothran (2). Thomas Cothran was a fisherman. [12]

1870 T Cochran (age 47, born in Georgia) lived in Brownsville, Lee County, Alabama, in a household with J Cochron (43), E Cochron, J Cochron (17), C Cochron (15), S Cochron (11), J Cochron (7), and T Cochron (2). T Cochran was a carpenter. [13]

1880 Thomas Cochran (age 56, born in Georgia, married) lived in Brownville, Lee County, Alabama, in a household with Julia A Cochran (51), Julia Cochran (16), Thomas W Cochran (12), and Susan Wells (21). Thomas Cochran's parents were both born in South Carolina. Thomas Cochran was a carpenter. [14]

DEATH OF MR. THOMAS G. COCHRAN.
Mr. Thomas G. Cochran, the promiment and prosperous brick manufacturer, died at his home in Phenix City with bronchetis Sunday. Mr. Cochran was about 55 years of age. He was a good man and a useful, enterprising citizen, greatly liked by all who knew him.

The funeral took place yesterday afternoon, Rev. J. B. Nelson conducting the sad services in the presence of a large number of sorrowing friend. The following gentlemen acted as pall bearers: W. H. Brannon, A. D. Marchant, J. T. Pittman, J. K. Nuckolls, V. H. Smith, J. F. Amerson.
