1814-15 Banister Cochran fought in the War of 1812. A pension record for Banister Cochrann named widow Serene Cochrann and first wife Sarah Collins. Banister enlisted on November 12, 1814 and was discharged on March 8, 1815. He was a private in Captain Jesse Thomas' Company of the Georgia Militia. His bounty land was listed. Banister and Serene were married on January 4, 1846, in Putnam County, Georgia. Banister died on November 10, 1861, in Morgan County, Georgia. Widow [Serene] died on January 31, 1899. [1]

1846 Barnster Cochram and Serene Voss were married on January 4 in Putnam County, Georgia. [22] [23] [24]
1847 Banister Cockram was appointed administrator for the estate of Pheraby Vass [Voss?] in Morgan County, Georgia. James Cockram and others were named as appraisers. [25] He made a return on December 28. [26] He petitioned to sell negroes from the estate in March term 1848. [27] Banister advertized the sale by May term 1848. [28] He made a return in June, 1848. 1850 Banister Cochran (age 65) and Sarah (age 43) lived in Morgan County, Georgia with David Cochran (age 21), George Cochran (age 16), Mark? Cochran (age 11), Caroline Cochran (age 15), Joseph Cochran (age 24), Mathew B Cochran (age 21), James Cochran (age 31) tenant. [30]
1860 Banister Cochran (age 78, born in North Carolina) lived in Shepherds District, Morgan County, Georgia, in a household with Lavenia Cochran (age 46), David Cochran (age 32), George Cochran (age 26), Mark Cochran (age 22), Walter Cochran (age 14), Thomas Cochran (age 7), and Elizabeth Cochran (age 6). Banister Cochran's occupation was farmer. [31]
1861 Banister Cockrum dated his will on November 12 in Morgan County, Georgia. He bequeathed a negro woman named Samantha (age 21) and her children William and Lewis (ages 9 months and 3 years) to his wife Serene W Cockrim. Sons George, John, Mark A Cooper, Walter Branham, and daughter Ann Caroline Cram all inherited horses. Enslaved persons Dick, Wash, and Isham were to be sold. Josias Bosnell and Irby Scott were named as executors. The will was affirmed on January 13, 1862. [32] [33]
1870 Serena Cockran (age 61, born in Georgia) lived in Madison County, Georgia, in a household with Merena P Cockran (21), and Welly M B Cockran. Serena Cockran's occupation was keeping house. [34]
1898 Sarina Cochran, of Morgan County, Georgia, dated her will on April 8, 1898. She named grand children John H Cochran and wife Nancy L Cochran and their child. She mentioned her pension from the United States government. John H Cochran was named as executor. The will was affirmed on February 22, 1899. [35]

Several researchers name Thomas G Cochran as a son of Banister Cochran. We seek evidence for this potential relationship. Thomas G Cochran may have been named a guardian of the orphans of Thomas Cochran.
