Mrs. Lizzie R. Shirk, eighty, 106-1/2 E. Donegal St., Mount Joy, the widow of Christian R. Shirk, died Monday at the Fairview Manor Nursing Home, Columbia, after a long illness. She was born in Rapho Township, the daughter of the late Samuel and Catherine Rose Geibe. She was a member of the Chiques Methodist Church and a resident of Mount Joy since childhood. Surviving are these sons and daughters, Mrs. Blanche Miller, with whom she had lived; Christian, Mount Joy; Ella, wife of Carl Freed, York; Velma, wife of Lawrence Gutshall, Bainbridge R1; Jacob, Mount Joy; Florence, wife of Charles Metzger Jr., Landisville, and Louis, Columbia. Also surviving are these brothers and sisters: John Geibe, Lititz; Mrs. Emma Waugenbaugh, Lititz; Samuel Geibe, Mount Joy; Louis Geibe, Lititz; and Harry Geibe, Mount Joy; 22 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. "Mrs. Velma G. Gutshall, 56, of Bainbridge R1, died at Lancaster General Hospital Wednesday evening after a lengthy illness. She had been employed by Wyeth Laboratories, Marietta, and was a member of Chiques United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and choir member of the church. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Bainbridge Fire Company. Mrs. Gutshall had been a resident of Bainbridge for the past 30 years and was formerly of Mount Joy. She was the wife of Lawrence J. Gutshall. Born in Mount Joy, she was a daughter of the late Christian R. and Lizzie Geibe Sherk. Surviving in addition to her husband, are three daughters: Connie, wife of Michael J. Rank, Bainbridge R1; Kathy, wife of Kim D. Schatz, Bainbridge, and Mindy Gutshall, at home; three grandchildren; three brothers, Christian R. Sherk and Jacob G. Sherk, both of Mount Joy, and Lewis G. Sherk, Columbia, and three sisters, Mrs. Blanche Miller, Mount Joy; Ella, wife of Carl Freed, York, and Florence, wife of Charles E. Metzger, Neffsville."
