1832 John Bowers purchased land in Licking County from Jacob Bowers and wife Susannah, John Cross and wife Margaret, Benjamin Courson and wife Elizabeth, William Rawn and wife Barbary, all of Licking County, Ohio. The tract was subject to right of dower of Ann Catharine Bowers, the widow of Peter Bowers, deceased. The deed was dated on September 5. John Bowers and wife Margaret sold the land the same day to Adam Winegardner and Ann Catharine Bowers, the mother of John Bowers, relinquished her right of dower. [1]
