A biosketch of William Moore reports [1]:

William Moore, farmer and stock-grower, P.O. Mount Holly Springs, was born in South Middleton Township, this county.November 28, 1835, in the house where he now resides.His parents, William and Catharine (Reighter) Moore, were also natives of this county and of Scotch-Irish descent. His father was a farmer and miller, and his grand father, William Moore, also a farmer, was an early settler of this county. William Moore is the youngest in a family of six children, of which he and his sister Mary Ann (now the wife of John Craighead) are the only ones now residing in the county, Our subject was reared on a farm, acquired a common school education, and farming and milling have been his chief business.He is owner of 174 acres of land.Our subject has been twice married; first in 1858, to Catharine, daughter of Jacob Ritner and granddaughter of ex-Gov. Joseph Ritner of Pennsylvania. To this union were born the following named children: Robert, a cattle-dealer in Wyomins Territory; Emily and Bertha. Mrs. Moore died in 1866, and in 1869 Mr. Moore married, for his second wife, her sister Mary, and by this union has four children: Jessie, Minnie, Norris and Hugh. Mrs. Moore's father was a land surveyor and farmer, and his daughter Mary, being endowed with artistic taste, drew the drafts of the tracts of land for him ; she is a member of the Presbyterian Church. Mr. Moore is a Democrat in politics.

1858 Catharine Ritner and William Moore, both of South Middleton, Carlisle County, were married on October 12 at the First Presbyterian Church in Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. [2]

1866 Catharine Ritner Moore died on October 12 and was buried at Old Graveyard, Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. Catharine Ritner Moore was born on June 14, 1840. [3]

In 1880 farmer William Moore, 45 was living in South Middleton township, married to Mary, 36, with the following children in his home - Robert Moore, 20, Emily Moore 18, Bertha Moore 15, Jessie Moore 10, Minnie Moore 9, Norris Moore 6 and Hugh Moore 2.

1889 Mary Moore was the executor for the estate of her mother Elizabeth Ritner of South Middleton. [4]

1890 William Moore died on May 28 and was buried at Old Graveyard, Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. William Moore was born on November 28, 1835. [5]

Mr. Wm. Moore, of South Middleton township, aged 54 years and 6 months, died Wednesday evening. The funeral will take place on Friday, May 30th, at ten o'clock; interment in the old graveyard at Carlisle.
Deceased leaves a wife and seven children.

1921 Mary R Moore died on May 13, at age 77, in South Middleton Twp, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. She was born on December 22, 1843, in Cumb County, Pennsylvania, daughter of Jacob Ritner and Elizabeth Smith. [6]

1921 Mary Ritner Moore died on May 13 and was buried at Mount Holly Springs Cemetery, Mount Holly Springs, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. Mary Ritner Moore was born on December 22, 1843. [7]

Mrs. Mary Ritner Moore, granddaughter of the late Governor Joseph Ritner, died at her home, opposite Martin's Mill, at an advanced age, at 11:45 this morning, after an illness of several weeks. She was the last of the family and is survived by the following children: Mrs. Charles Lenhart of Mt. Holly Springs; Norris Moore, at home; Mrs. James M. Eppley, South Middleton, and Robert Moore, of Sterling, Colorado. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and one of the most estimable citizens of the county.
