1696 On March 13, William Creed acknowledged payment from Daniel Denton late of Jamaica Senior now deceased. [All records involving Daniel Denton dated after this date likely refer to Daniel Denton Jr.] [2]
1704 The will of Daniel Whitehead made a bequest: "I give the £30 which is due to me from the estate of my son in law, Daniel Denton, unto his children, and to Gabriel Lassee, "begotten upon the body of Deborah Lassee, the present wife of Gabriel Lassee;" viz., to Daniel Denton, Abigail Denton and Deborah Denton, and to Abigail and Mary Stebbins daughters of Benjamin and Abigail Stebbins, my son and daughter in law. 1750 Daniel Denton wrote his will in Goshen, Orange County, New York. [7] [8]
A Denton genealogical sketch reports that Daniel Denton (town clerk of Hempstead in 1650 and son of Rev. Richard Denton) had children Daniel Denton born April 24, 1676 and Hannah Denton born August 5, 1677 by his first wife [whom we show as Abigail Stevenson]. [9] These birthdates and names are not consistent with the interpretations that we have made.
