Some researchers report that James Cockran, who died in Marshall County, Tennessee, was a son of Thomas, sometimes using the name James Moses Cockran. Perhaps they think that the Moses named in the deeds above and the James named in the will of Thomas were the same person. However, note that there were listings for both James and Moses Cockran, each age 26-44, on the same page of the census in 1810, showing that they were two different persons. We seek further documentation for this possibility.
