Notes for Mary Pickett

An annotated version of Stella Hardy Pickett's book names Mary Pickett, spouse of Robert Church, as a daughter of Reuben Pickett.

Two generations of men named Robert Church are named in the documents below in Henderson County, Kentucky. It is not stated which, if either, was married to Mary Pickett, daughter of Reuben Pickett. Note that Reuben Church is named in a document dated 1852. There are many details in the documents cited below which are not included in the notes.

1812 Robert Church of Henderson County, Kentucky, appointed his friend William Boyd of Mecklenburg County, Virginia as his attorney, especially to recover any assets held by the estate of John Wilson who was the prior attorney of Robert Church. [1]

1813 Samuel Hopkins purchased land on behalf of Robert Church and sold it to Robert Church on March 12. Robert Church purchased a tract from Henry Purviance. The tract of land purchased from Purviance was part of a grant to Richard Henderson by the Commonwealth of Virginia. [2]

1818 John and Sarah Eakins sold land to Robert Church. [3]

1826 Richard Church and Robert Church were appointed executors for the last will and testament of Robert Church deceased. [4]

1829 Robert Church was appointed guardian for Edward Church (over age 14), orphan of Robert Church deceased. [5]

1831 Robert Church was appointed guardian for James H Church (over age 14) and Ann E Church, minor children of Robert Church deceased at the court in Henderson County, Kentucky. [6]

1833 Robert Church and wife Matilda of Henderson County, Kentucky sold land to Benjamin Lester. [7]

1833 Robert Church purchased land from William Griffith, Philip Triplett, and George Morris on October 4. [8]

1839 Robert Church and Mary his wife of Henderson County, Kentucky sold land to Lambert on July 23. [9]

1841 Robert Church was the administrator of the estate of Andrew Graham because Robert had married Mary, the widow of Andrew Graham. Robert Church was named as guardian of the minor heirs of Andrew Graham. The heirs did not attend the proceedings. Robert Church was indebted to several persons named Graham, perhaps the heirs and the widow. [10]

1843 Guardianship of the heirs of Andrew Graham was transferred from Robert Church to Edmund Talbot. [11]

1843 Robert Church and James Ward were granted all the land and assets of Enoch Spenser [perhaps due to a debt?]. [12]

1845 Robert Church was the administrator of the estate of James Ward, deceased. [13]

1852 Robert Church was appointed guardian of Anna and Bettie Church, orphans of Reuben Church deceased. [14]

1853 Robert Church made a settlement with the heirs of Andrew Graham. The heirs filed exceptions to the settlements and the case was continued. [15]
