1809 Barzillai Coates witnessed the will of Jacob Prickett of Northampton, Burlington County.
1817 A mortgage agreement involving Joshua Forsyth of New Hanover, Burlington County and Jacob Ridgway of Philadelphia mentioned monies due to Elizabeth Debenneville, formerly Elizabeth Coate widow of Barzillai Coate deceased, and Sarah Coate widow of Wm Coate deceased, taken in lieu of their rights of dower. Tract of land was adjacent to land of Edith Coate. The agreement was dated May 10. [1] Perhaps Barzillai and Edith were children of William and Sarah (Hollingshead) Coate.
