John Lyon dated his will on January 17 in Lincoln County, Georgia. His mother was alive and was to maintain and educate his children. Some assets were to be divided among John B Lyon, Peyton Lyon, Peter Lyon, Edmund Lyon, and Dandridge Lyon. 1812 John Lyon sold his interest in the estate of Dinah Lyon deceased of Lincoln County to Mark Shipp on April 19. [4] John Lyon also sold an enslaved person to Mark Shipp. Perhaps John Lyon moved to Kentucky after this, as suggested by the petition dated 1833.

The will of John Lyon was recorded in Logan County, Kentucky and the Logan County court asked the Lincoln County Georgia court to contact the witnesses to prove the will by request dated June 29, 1814, at which date John Lyon was deceased. [5]

The Logan County, Kentucky court proved the will on January 16. [6]

Thomas Lyon of Lincoln County, Georgia with power of attorney to Edmond Lyon petitioned the Logan County court in Kentucky for his share of the estate of Thomas Pickett which might be recovered from the assets of John Lyon deceased. Thomas Lyon was a son of Ann Lyon and John Lyon. Ann Lyon was a daughter of Thomas Pickett. Heirs of Lucy Lyons deceased were named and they paid $150. [13]

Thomas Lyon together with sister Betsy and brother James, children of John Lyon and grandchildren of Thomas Pickett deceased, petitioned the court of Lincoln, Georgia. After the death of Thomas Pickett, the parties entered into an agreement with Ann, the widow of Thomas, dated July 1, 1800. The agreement specified that Ann could keep certain assets from the estate until her death. After Ann's death the land was to be divided among the three children of John Lyon by his first wife Sally. Widow Ann died 5 or 6 years after the agreement was made. John Lyon received a large sum of money but did not distribute it to the children. John moved from Georgia to Kentucky sometime in the year 18 twelve(?). John had since died. Thomas Lyon gave power of attorney to his brother Edmund (perhaps a half brother) to execute the estate of John Lyon, deceased, but Thomas Lyon was not satisfied by the result. The court summoned Edmond Lyon. [14]
