1800 The heirs of John Lyon deceased agreed on a partition of his estate, now that his widow Dinah has agreed to make a partition. The heirs were John, Edmund, Margaret, and Nancy Lyon. Those making the agreement were John and Edmund Lyon and James and William Pickett. Nancy Lyon and James K Pickett were married. We suspect that Margaret Lyon and William Pickett were married. Articles of an agreement made & entered into this Twenty fifth day of January in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight hundred, Between John Lyons, Edmund Lyons, James Pickett, & William Pickett, Legatees of the Estate John Lyons, late of Caroline County in the State of Virginia Decd (That is to say the said John Lyons in his life made & constituted an Instrument of writing commonly called a Will, which will being duly proved in said State & County aforesaid, according to law wherein the said John Lyons decd Lent unto his wife Dinanah Lyons all his Estate during her life or Widowhood, and after her death or widowhood, to be Equally divided among his children Viz. John Lyons, Edmund Lyons, & Nancy Lyons now Nancy Pickett, & Elizabeth Lyons now Elizabeth Pickett, the said Denanah Lyons Widow of the said John Lyons Decd never intermarried but still continues a Widow, is willing to make a Division of part of the Estate now in her possession among her Two sons & Daughters Viz; John Lyons Edmund Lyons, Nancy Pickett & Elizabeth Pickett, and the said parties to these articles of Agreement have (by consent of the Widow) made the following Division, that is to say) John Lyons is to have Two Negros Named Anthony & Sarah Edmund Lyons to have two Negros Named Ben & Grace James Pickett to have Two Negros named Tom & Amey William Pickett to have Two Negro's named Nelson & Arrinor which Division the said parties have mutually agreed to & do bind themselves & their Heirs & Executors &c. to stand to and abide by the said Division under the penalty of Ten Thousand Dollars each to the other for the due performance & fulfilling of the said Articles of Agreements & the said parties to these presents do mutually agree that the same may become a Record in the County of Lincoln & State of Georgia & the said parties being perfectly satisfied with the said division have hereunto set their hands & affixed their seals the day of the first above written
