Arrangements were made for the care of Susanna, wife of son David. After the death of son David, the remainder was to be divided among the six children of David (senior). Son Christian was named executor. The will was proved on May 20, 1850. [5]

A committee was appointed to appraise the estate. [6] The appraisal was recorded by Jacob Myers. None of the heirs accepted the property at the appraised value and the land was to be sold. [7] A distribution was made from the estate in 1851 [perhaps based on the 1851 sale of the tract to Amos Rohrer]. [8]

Mennonite card file. The card is based on readings from the Habaker cemetery. There are handwritten notes on the card, indicating David Mellinger's death date as May 4, 1850 rather than May 4, 1859 (as originally typed). The age of death is hand written as 89y 5m 3d. The hand written 1850 death date agrees with the will dates. Several children who died as infants are named. [18]
