Notes for Henry Wise

1819 Heinrich Weise, son of Friedrich and Eva Elisabeth Weise, was born on April 1. He was baptized on May 31 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. [1] [2]

1840 Henry Wise and Matilda Musselman were married on October 27 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. [3] The marriage was announced in the newspaper. [4] [5]

1843 Caroline, daughter of Henry and Matilda Wise was born on December 26. She was baptized on August 4, 1844 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. [6]

1850 Henry Wise (age 31) and Matilda Wise (age 27) lived in South Middleton Twp, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania with daughters Mary M (age 8) and Caroline (age 6). [7] [8]

1858 Land of H. Wise and of Hy Wise was shown in the Bridgens map of Cumberland County in South Middleton Twp. Nearby was land of Jb Musselman. [9]

1860 Henry Wise (age 47, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Southampton Twp, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, in a household with Matilda Wise (38), Caroline Wise (16), Willis H Wise (9), and Mary M Smith (19). Henry Wise was a farmer. [10]

1860 Matilda Wise, wife of Henry Wise, died on November 30, at age 38y 29d, and was buried at Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. Her stone was adjacent to the stone for Henry. [11] [12]

1863 Henry Wise, age 44, registered for the draft in Southampton Twp, Franklin County, Pennsylvania. [13]

1870 Henry Wise (age 51) and Margaret Wise (age 42) lived in Southampton Twp, Franklin County, Pennsylvania with son Willis Wise (age 20). [14] [15]

1880 Henry Wise (age 61, born in Pennsylvania), married, self (head), Farmer, lived in Southampton, Franklin County, Pennsylvania (father born in Pennsylvania and mother born in Pennsylvania) with Margaret Wise (age 52), and Willis H. Wise (age 29). [16]

1883 The will of Henry Wise of Mechanicsbug, Cumberland, PA was dated February 25. The will was proved on March 26 in Cumberland, Pennsylvania. The will named Henry Wise, Margaret Wise (Wife), Willis Wise (Son), Henry W Marrison (Nephew), Mary M Wise (Daughter), and Caroline Wise (Daughter). [17]

1883 Henry Wise died on March 21, at age 63y 11m 20d, and was buried at Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. His stone was adjacent to the stone for Matilda. [18] [19] [20]

1883 Jacob Musselman died intestate in Cumberland County with no direct heirs. Jacob's estate passed to descendants of a deceased uncle, George Musselman (see page 341). Among those descendants was Matilda Musselman Wise, wife of Henry Wise, who left three children: 1. Mary Smith of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania 2. Caroline Coover(?) in Kansas 3. Willis Wise in Franklin County (see page 342). [21]

1870 Mary Smith (age 26, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Shippensburg, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, in a household with David Smith (32), Charles Smith (9), and Harvey Smith (7). Mary Smith's occupation was keeping house. [22]

1880 Mary M. Smith (age 39, born in Pennsylvania, married), wife, lived in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, in a household with David A Smith (41), Charles F Smith (19), Harvey T Smith (16), and John W Smith (6). Mary M. Smith's parents were both born in Pennsylvania. [23]

1936 Harvey T Smith, spouse of Elizabeth Hahn Smith, died on April 14 in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. He was born on July 8, 1863 in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, son of David Smith and Mary Wise. [24]

1942 Charles F Smith, spouse of Mary M Smith, died on November 10 in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. He was born on October 30, 1861 in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, son of David A Smith and Mary Wise. [25]

1870 Joseph Coover (age 28, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Oconee, Shelby County, Illinois, in a household with Coover (24), Mary Coover (5), Harry Coover (3), and Robert Coover. Joseph Coover was a farmer. [26]

1880 Caroline Coover (age 30, born in Pennsylvania, married), wife, lived in Sheridan, Cherokee County, Kansas, in a household with Jw Coover (40), Mary M Coover (15), John H Coover (13), Roberta Coover (11), and Albert C Coover (9). Caroline Coover's parents were both born in Pennsylvania. [27]

1885 Caroline Coover (age 42, born in Pennsylvania, married) lived in Cherokee County, Kansas, in a household with J W Coover (45), Mary M Coover (19), John H Coover (18), Roburty Coover (16), and Albert C Coover (13). [28]

1890 Joseph Coover, spouse of Caroline Coover, died on September 17. He was born on December 3, 1840 in Pennsylvania. [29]

1892 Caroline Coover was named as the widow of Joseph W Coover regarding a Civil War pension. [30]

1900 Caroline Coover (born in Pennsylvania in Dec 1844, widowed) lived in Sheridan, Cherokee County, Kansas, in a household with Alfred C Coover (27). Caroline Coover's parents were both born in Pennsylvania. Caroline Coover had had 5 children, 4 still living. Caroline Coover was a farmer. [31]

1919 Caroline Coover, spouse of Joseph Coover, died on August 23 in Kansas. She was born in 1849 in Pennsylvania. [32]

Mrs. Coover Dead. Mrs. Caroline Coover, mother of Al Coover, died at the Coover home southwest of town Saturday afternoon at the age of 70 years, 7 months and 29 days, following an illness of two weeks The funeral services were held from the home Sunday afternoon at three o'clock, conducted by Rev. Howard, and the remains
were laid to rest in the Sherman cemetery.
