"Stoner-Brother Jacob Stoner departed this life March 15, 1876, aged 64 years, 6 months, and 2 days. He has been a faithful member of the Christian Church for twenty-seven years, faithfully living with his hope in Christ, that when called away by death he should be an heir to his kingdom. He lived a consiscient Christian until death. During his illness he seemed to grow stronger in the faith once delivered to the saints. When I conversed with him he wished to depart and be with Christ. While he laid on his bed of afflication he was permitted to see the home, resting-place of all those who live faithful to Christ. He saw a beautiful garment, embroidered with pure gold, in reserve for him. Oh, happy thought, that God in his divine wisdom will permit his children to have a view of their resting place beyond the vale. The Lord giveth, the Lord taketh away, and blessed be the name of the Lord. The brother was permitted to see that strait and narrow way that leads to joys on high. It seemed to him white as snow, and strewed with flowers and little children, at the other end of the road. What a comfort to those that live faithful in Christ! They can see by the eye of faith the home of the just, and what a blessed comfort that the bereaved friends of our brother can feel that they shall meet again in the kingdom of Christ."

During her sickness she bore her suffering with patience and waited patiently for the angel of mercy to take her home. To know her was to love her.
