"Abraham Grunewald's first son Christopher was born in Germany 1731 and died in Manchester Township York County, Pennsylvania. between 10/5/1805 the date of his will and 11/18/1805. He married Anna Maria Elizabeth Becker in 1756. Christopher and his wife were members of the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church of York County Pa. Christopher rendered Military service in the revolutionary war in the York County Militia as a member of the 4th class, 7th Company of Militia under Captain Jost Harbaugh. Christopher's son was John Jacob Greenawalt born 8/23/1761 in York County. John Jacob married Elizabeth Rahl and settled in Franklin County PA. John Jacob served as a drummer in the revolutionary war 1778 in the 3rd battalion Northampton County Militia under Col. Michael Probst." 1846 The will of John Greenawalt, late of Peters Twp, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, was dated May 20, 1844. The family of deceased son Jacob was to live on the plantation for 1 year. After that son David was to divide the plantation and grandson John (son of Jacob deceased) was to have first choice of the division. The division was dated May 2, 1846. [8]
1846 Henry Greenawalt petitioned the orphan's court of Franklin County regarding property of John Greenawalt deceased, late of Chambersburg. John had purchased land from the estate of Robert Honer(?) without informing Henry. Henry claimed that John intended to give half of the land to Henry. Godfrey Greenawalt was one of the administrators of John's estate. Godfrey, father of John agreed that John and Henry had purchased and worked the land together, as did the other administrator. [9]
