1563 Richard Sampson wrote his will between March 25 and May 5. [1]

In the name of god amen In the yeer of ower lorde god a thowsande fyve hundrythe thre skore three I Richard Samson of the parryshe of Saincte Peter within the yle of Thanet and in the Countye of Kente hole of mynde, and memorye make this my testamente in manner and fourme followinge First I commytt and bequethe my sowle unto ALmightye god my maker and redemer and savyowor and my boddye to buryed in the churche yarde of Saincte Peters aforesayde Also I will that their be donne for me at my buryall and monthes daye and twelve monthes mynde to the poore people a marke at everye daye Itm I give to the reparacons of the churche of Saincte Peters aforesaide xxs Also I gyve and beqwethe to every of my god children xijd a pece Also I gyve and bequether to Richard Samson the younger the sonne of my saide sonne Richarde Samson tenne poundes to be delivered vnto him at the day of his mariage and yf the said Rychard Sampson the younger do dye before the saude day if marryage then I will the one on my sonnes sonnes to be anothers heire equaually devyded emongest the resydew of my sonnes chyldren Also I gyve and beqwethe to the mendinge of the highe waye of Redinge Strete xxs Alsib U gyve and bequethe to Robarte Samson my brother Robarts sonne Fower poundes to be delivered unto him at the daye of hys marryage Also I gyve and beqwether to Richard Samson the younger aforesaide viij shepe one cowe two brasse pottes and a dussen of pewter one yoting forme and a brownige ketle and my bed that I lye on withe the apparell and the two chests in my chamber and a elinge tonne Item one ketle of a tolvet another rosser Ketle Alson I gyve and beqwethe to Thomas Samson my godsone fyve pounfs at the daye of his marryage and uf he dye before the sayde daye of marryage then his bretherne then lyvingw to he hsi heire. Aldo I givve to Thomas samson the younger one ewe sheoe Item to Stephen Samson iijs iiij d Itm I gyve to Steohen Soracily xxs at the daye of hys marryage Itm I gyve to Snnys Samson dawghter or Robarte Samson xxs at the daye of her marryage Itm I gyve to eche of my sonnes sonnes Twenty shillinges a pece save Richard Samson Also I doo ordeigne and make my executors Richarde Samson my sone and Thomas Coklyn. Itm I gyve to Thomas Coklyn for his labower eighte shillinges.
This is the laste will of me the saide Rychard Samson made the day and yeer above written and in the fyffte yeer of the reigne of Quene Elyzabeth of and apon all my landes and tentes lyenge and beinge withyn the parryshe of st Peters or elswhere with the dountye of Kent First I will that Richard Samson my sonne shall have my tenement and all my lamdes in fee simole for evermore to this wytnesse Ribarte Hunte Robarte CUrlinge and Stephen Soracklyn with other more.
