1774 John Neaff was taxed in Newberry Twp, York County. [1]

1790 John Neff sold a 260 acre tract in Newberry Twp, York County, Pennsylvania to William Hamersley on May 17. John Neff had inherited the land by the will of his father Peter Neff, dated 1767. [2]

1792 A deed was returned on June 4, for the sale of the estate of Peter Neff to John Neff. The land was in Newberry Township, York County. Ann, wife of Jacob Meyer of Manheim Twp. Lancaster County, was named as the widow of Peter Neff. Christian Stoner, et al, and Elizabeth his wife of Newbury Twp, Christian Mayer and Ann his wife of Manheim Twp, in the county of Lancaster, which the said Elizabeth and Ann are the daughters of Peter Neff late of Newberry Twp in the county of York deceased, of the one part, and Jacob Mayer and Ann his wife of Manheim Twp in Lancaster is the widow and relict of Peter Neff deceased of the second part, and John Neff of Newberry Twp is the son of Peter Neff deceased of the third party, whereas Peter died and left the 266 acres to Ann his widow and three children, John Neff, Elizabeth, the wife of Christian Stoner, and Ann, the wife of Christian Mayer, dated 15 May 1790, recorded 17 May 1790, [Robert Hammersly, Esq., is one of the Justices of the Court of Common Pleas of York County] All of the wives are examined. [3]

1793 John Neff, John Bear, and John Plough purchased 1/2 acre of land from William Hammersley in Newberry Twp, York County on February 16. The deed was returned in 1811. The land was part of a larger tract that was previously owned by Peter Neff who purchased it by deed GG-77. Peter granted it to son John, who sold it to Hammersley. The deed was witnessed by Robert Hammersley Jr. [4] John Bear deceased, and John Plough were named in deed 2V-428, the next deed. The next several deeds involve Robert Hammersley and might all be related, through page 2V-438.

1820 John Neff lived in Indiana Twp, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania in a household with males: 2 (16 thru 25) and 1 (45 and over); and females: 1 (10 thru 15), 1 (16 thru 25), and 1 (45 and over). Peter Neff was listed on the same page of the census. [10]

1830 John Naip lived in Indiana Twp, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania in a household with males: 1 (Under 5), 1 (5 thru 9), 1 (20 thru 29), and 1 (60 thru 69); and females: 1 (Under 5), 1 (5 thru 9), 1 (20 thru 29), and 1 (60 thru 69). Peter Naip and John Naip Jr were listed nearby. [11]

1831 John Neff and wife Mary sold land to Robert McCaslin in Indiana Twp. John Neff had purchased the land from the Bank of Pennsylvania in 1826. [12]

1835 1831 John Neff and wife Mary sold land to Thomas Crampton. Adjacent land was held by Robert McCaslin. John Neff had purchased the land from the Bank of Pennsylvania in 1826. [13]

1840 John Neff lived in Indiana Twp, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania in a household with males: 1 (Under 5), 1 (15 thru 19), and 1 (40 thru 49); and females: 2 (Under 5), 2 (5 thru 9), 2 (10 thru 14), 2 (15 thru 19), and 1 (40 thru 49). Peter Neff was listed on the same page of the census. [14]
