"John [Taylor], second son of Samuel Taylor, born probably in 1695, appears permanently in the civil list between 1735 and 1750, being chosen freeholder of the township of Chesterfield in 1745, and overseer of highways. He evidently had sons: John, Joseph, Robert, Charles, Samuel and William. Robert was a freeholder in 1779-80 and overseer of the poor from 1782." [1]
