Notes for John Clements and Nancy Page

1795 Nancy Page and John Clements were married on June 11 at Trinity Church, Burlington County, New Jersey. Witnessed by Gamaliel Bailey [husband of Nancy's sister Sarah], Henry Muilingburg(?) Jr, and Abraham Browning. [1]

1823 John Clements mortgaged land that his father Peter had bequeathed to John. The land was adjacent to land of Benjamin Wood. The mortgage was dated April 2, 1823 and was recorded on June 20, 1825. [2]

1828 Land from the estate of Thomas Page was partitioned, by Letter of Attorney, Burlington County, New Jersey. Heirs were named, including Thomas P Clements and Beulah his wife and 4 other children of Clements and Nancy Page. Dated May 22, 1828. The language suggests that the 4 children were all of age. [3]:

Know all men by these presents that whereas Thomas Page, late of Chester, in the County of Burlington and State of New Jersey, died intestate seized of, and by sundry parcels of land and real estate situate in the said county and whereas no person administered to the estate of the said Thomas Page but the said estate remained unsettled as at the time of his death and whereas there appears to be debts and expenses of the estate remaining unpaid, as well as sundry dues thereto yet uncollected; and it being desirable to have the same amicably justly and fully settled, collected and paid, and the remainder (if any there be) distributed among his children and heirs at law in proportion as they are by law entitled to receive the same. And whereas we the children & heirs at law of the said Thomas Page dec'd being at this time all of us of full and lawful age and being Desirous to have the said personal estate fully settled, and the real estate sold & converted unto money and in consequence of our remote situation from each other, and good causes and considerations thereunto moving us, we Thomas Page and Catharine, his wife, of the State of Ohio, Samuel Page and Margaret his wife, of the Township of Mansfield, in the County of Burlington, and state of New Jersey, Gilbert Page of Chester, in the county and State aforesaid, and Atlantic his wife, Gamaliel Bailey and Sarah Bailey, his wife late Sarah Page, of the city of Philadelphia, who are all children and heirs of the said Thomas Page, dec'd, & Thomas P Clements and Beulah his wife, Kitty Clements, John Clements, Nancy Clements, and Benjamin Clements, children of Nancy Clements, dec'd, who was one of the [said] daughters of the said Thomas Page, dec'd, all of Waterford, in the county of Gloucester, in the state of New Jersey, do hereby nominate, make, constitute & appoint our trusty friend & brother William Page of Evesham in the County of Burlington aforesaid our true and lawful attorney for us and in our names and to our own use to settle the estate of our father and grandfather the said Thomas Page, dec'd, …

In Witness whereof the said Thomas Page and Catharine his wife, Samuel Page and Margaret his wife, Gilbert Page and Atlantic his wife, Gamaliel Bailey and Sarah his wife, Thomas Clements and Beulah his wife, Kitty Clements, John Clements, Nancy Clements, and Benjamin Clements have hereunto set our hands and seals the twenty second day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & twenty eight. …

1829 Keturah Clements, John P Clements, Nancy Clements, and Benjamin Clements sold land to Thomas P Clements, all heirs of John P Clements, late of Waterford Twp, Gloucester County, New Jersey. Adjacent land was owned by Job Cole, Jacob Engle, Nathan Evans, and Isaac Morgan. The lot had been purchased from the estate of Jacob Browning. The deed was dated on January 5. The subsequent deed (page 403) was for a tract that John Clement had inherited from his father Peter Clement which was adjacent to land of Benjamin Woods. [4] [5]

1840 Son John Clements lived in Waterford Twp, Gloucester County, New Jersey in a household with males: 1 (30 thru 39) and 1 (50 thru 59); and females: 1 (30 thru 39) and 1 (40 thru 49). [6]

Research Notes:

Father Peter Clements owned land in Gloucester County, which may have became Camden County, so look in both places for documents. The name might be spelled Clement or Clements.
