1866 Eliza Picket and John W. Matley were married on January 29 in Pontotoc County, Mississippi. [2] [3]

1870 John W Motley (age 33, born in Tennessee) lived in Precinct 1, Hopkins County, Texas, in a household with Eliza Motley (age 33), Jenny Motley (age 3), Betty Motley (age 2), and Mollis Motley (age 1). John W Motley's occupation was farmer. Eliza's father James C Pickett was listed adjacent in the census. [4]

1880 Eliza Motley (age 33, born in Georgia, married), wife, lived in Precinct 1, Delta County, Texas, in a household with J. W. Motley (age 43), Jenny Motley (age 13), Mollie Motley (age 10), Fannie Motley (age 9), Reuben Motley (age 7), Kate Motley (age 6), Josie Motley (age 5), and Emma Motley (age 1). Eliza Motley's parents were both born in South Carolina. [5]

1900 Lilly L Motley (born in Georgia in Feb 1847, married for 33 years), wife, lived in Justice Precinct 7, Eastland County, Texas, in a household with John W Motley (age 53), Robert Motley (age 14), Douglas Motley (age 13), Kate Strickland (age 26), Ava Strickland (age 7), and John Strickland (age 5). Lilly L Motley had had 10 children, 7 still living. [6]

1906 Mrs Lellie Motley, widow, school teacher, applied for a Confederate pension in Gray County, Texas. Her husband John Motley died on February 18, 1906. John and Lellie Motley were married on January 29, 1866 in Pontotoc, Mississippi. John Motley had served in the Confederate cavalry in Mississippi from August 1861 to May 3, 1865. [7]

1910 Lily Motley (age 63, born in Georgia, widowed) lived in Kerrsville 1 J-Pct, Kerr County, Texas, in a household with John W Motley (age 22). Lily Motley's parents were both born in United States. Lily Motley could read and write. [8]

1920 Lell S Matley (age 72, born in Georgia, widowed) lived in Justice Precinct 1, Kimble County, Texas. Lell S Matley's father was born in South Carolina and her mother was born in Georgia. Lell S Matley could write but could not read. Lillie's brother Rubin J Pickett (age seventy-something) and wife Kate and family were listed on the same page of the census. John D Motley (age 32) and wife Minnie and family was also listed on the same page (named as son John in 1910 and as son Douglas in 1900). [9]

1921 Daughter Emma Motley Wellington died on July 9 and was buried at Centrahoma Cemetery, Centrahoma, Coal County, Oklahoma. Emma Motley Wellington was born on March 7, 1879. [10] [11]

1923 Robt J. Motley, son of John Motley and Lillie Picket, died on February 7, 1923, at age 37, in Brownwood Twp, Brown County, Texas. Robt J. Motley was born on July 17, 1885, in Delta County. Robert was a meatcutter. [12]

1963 John Douglas Motley, son of John W Motley and Lillie Motley, spouse of Minnie Motley, died on November 13, 1963, at age 76, in Austin Twp, Travis County, Texas. John Douglas Motley was born on May 13, 1887, in Graham, Texas. [13]

Research Notes:

This John Motley appears to be a different person from John Motley, spouse of Elizabeth Hunt.

1860 Elizabeth L Hunt and John Motley were married on January 18 in Autauga County, Alabama. [14]
