1716 The will of father John Holloway, of Chesterfield Twp, Burlington County, New Jersey, dated Dec. 12, 1716, bequeathed "Daughter Avis, 20 Pounds when 18, Sons George, John and James 2 Pounds each when 21. Wife Mary, the rest." [3] [4]
1725 Avis Holloway and Samuel Schooley, both of Chesterfield, were married on May 27, at Chesterfield Twp, Burlington County, New Jersey. Witnessed by Mary, James, and George Holloway and others. [5] [6]
1731 George Holloway and Ruth Wood were married on November 10, at Springfield, Burlington County. Witnessed by James Holloway and others. [7]
1732 James Holloway purchased a farm of 150 acres in Schooley Mountains from Samuel Schooley. [8]
1743 James Holloway and Rebecca Kirby, daughter of Benjamin and Ann Kirby, were married on March 2, in Chesterfield, New Jersey. [9] [10]
Children: Mary married Joseph Willets; Benjamin did not marry; Joseph married Isabell Newell; Samuel married Miriam Ware; Ann did not marry; James married Ann Kirby; Rebecca married William Abbott; David did not marry; and Avis married Joseph Middleton. [11]
1760 James and Rebecca Holloway were named in the will of James' uncle James Pharo. James Holloway inherited the home farm of his uncle James Pharo.
1760 "James Pharo departed this life 2nd of 3d m 1760" [March 2, 1760], in Burlington County, New Jersey. [12]
1761 James Holloway wrote his will in Chesterfield Twp, dated June 18. Son Benjamin received the house and land, paying to daughters Mary, Ann, Rebeca, and Avis 25 pounds each. Sons Samuel, James, and David received lands, some of which were undivided between James and his brother George. Son Joseph received 100 acres on Mill Creek. Wife Rebecca got use of the lands until children were of age. Wife Rebecca and friend Michael Newbold were executors. Witnessed by George Holloway, William Page, and Samuel Harris. Proved August 10, 1761 [13] This farm is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. [14]:
The first Holloway to settle in Chesterfield Township was James Holloway (1715-1761). He owned a large tract of farmland which was divided into four separate farms after his death.
The subject of this nomination was willed to James' oldest son, Benjamin, who was then 15 years of age. Benjamin died in 1792 and his youngest brother James then inherited the property which then consisted of 270 acres. At the time of his marriage in 1803 James owned 305 acres.

1787 William Abbott, of Chesterfield (son of Timothy and Ann), and Rebecca Holloway, of same place, dau. of James and Rebekah, at Chesterfield Meeting. 11th 1st. mo. 1787. Witnesses--John, Susannah, Samuel, Abel and David Abbott, Rebekah Nois, Benjamin and James Holloway, Joseph M. Lawrie, Joshua Wright, Thomas Newbold, Michael Taylor, William Harrison and others. [16]
1794 Avis Holloway, daughter of James, deceased, and Rebekah Holloway, and Joseph Middleton were married on 17th day of 4th month, 1794 at Chesterfield. [17]
