Notes for Henry Beck and Alice Raworth

1671 Daughter Alice, wife of Christopher Roworth, was named in the will of Robert Taylor, of Dronfield, Derbyshire, which was dated March 13, 1670/71. Her younger brother Samuel was also named. Grand daughter Alice Roworth was also named. [1]

1686 Samuel Taylor and Susanna Horseman were married on April 14, at Chesterfield, Burlington County, New Jersey. Witnessed by William and Alice Black, Alice Raworth, and others. [2]

1691 On May 8, "The Grand Jury present Henry Beck and Alice Rawood the daughter in Lawe of William Black for committing Fornication. Henry Beck appeared on the behalfe of himselfe and said Alice (shee not being able to come) and acknowledged the aforside Cryme: and on behalf of himselfe and said Alice submitted to the Judgement of the Bench. The Court haveing thereupon Considered of the aforesaid Cryme, order as follows (vizt) That the said Henry Beck give security for the Indemnifying the Court of Burlington, and for mainteynance of the Bastard Child; and that the said Alice Rawood after she shall be delivered and well, shall be whipt, or pay 5l." 1691 On 2 of month 5, Alice, now the wife of Henry Beck, "acknowledged that the way to worship God was in the Spirit of Truth and that it was to lead and guide in the ways thereof". [4]

1691 On 6 of month 6, Henry Beck and his wife had not responded in the expected way. [5]

1702 The will of William Black was dated March 3, 1701/2. The will named Wife, Alice, Sons:Thomas, William, John, Samuel, daughter Mary, daughter-in-law, Alice Becke. The will was in probate on April 9, 1702. Samuel Taylor and Henry Beck of said county, yeoman, were fellow bondsmen. [6]

1714 Alice Beck was the administrator for the estate of John Beck of Mansfield, Burlington County. [7]

1715 April 14, Beck, John, of Mansfield, Burlington Co. Inventory of the personal estate of, 109.18.4; made by Sam'l Goldy, Thomas Curtis and John Hancock (?); sworn to by Alice Beck, administratrix.

1728 May 7. Beck, John, an orphan of about 15 years. Letters of guardianship of, issued to George Morris. Lib. 2, p. 522

Trenton, N.J. Quit claim 5-10-1736. "Whereas George Morris of Mansfield in the county of Burlington, yeoman, intermarried with Alice Beck, widow and relict of John Beck, late of Mansfield, aforesaid, yeoman, deceased, to the hands of which said Alice and George came cerain lands and testaments, goods and chatterls of the said deceased, and whereas the said Alice is since dead and John Beck, eldest son, heir at law, of the said John Beck, hath attained his age of 21 years, now know all men by these presents-release and quit claim to George Morris.

Hutchinson Mss. by Charles R. Hutchinson. Bk, 4, p. 219-220. "Henry Beck.. married in 1691, Alice Rawood, the step daughter of William Black (see p. 216) by her he had James, Roweth, and John. By a second wife, whose name was Ann, he had a son Godfrey, and a daughter, Sarah.".

According to Consuelo Furman of New York City, N.Y. professional genealogist working on Taylor line, Alice Raworth was the daughter of Alice Taylor (who was sister of Samuel Taylor) by a former marriage. Alice (Taylor) Raworth, married 2nd William Black. Alice Taylor came from parish of Dore, Yorkshire, Eng. and her parents were John Taylor and Catherine Bate.
