1835 Samuel Johnson and Joanna Wiese were married on August 23, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. [1]

1844 On 25 November, at the Cumberland County Orphans' Court [2]:

Upon the petition of Emanuel Wise and Samuel Johnston intermarried with Joanna late Joanna Wise heirs at law of Leonard Wise Sen late of South Middleton township Cumberland County deceased. Respectfully represents that letters of administration on the estate of the aforesaid decedent issued to Peter McLaughlin and Leonard Wise Jr the 10th day of June 1843, that since said date the aforesaid Peter McLaughlin one of the said administrators has become deranged in his mind as your petitioners believe and is altogether disqualified & unfit to transact the duties of his appointment & is wasting & mismanaging the estate of said decedent, thye therefore pray … to show cause why he shall not be dismissed … [The petition was granted.]

1850 Samuel Johnston (age 43) and Johanna (age 25, sic) lived in Bendersville, Adams County, Pennsylvania with children Charles (age 12), Mary (age 10), Emeline (age 5) and Alfred (age 3). [3]

1860 Samuel Johnson (age 55) and Johanna (age 40) lived in Butler, Adams County, Pennsylvania with children Emaline (age 18) and Alfred (age 14). [4] [5]

1860 Abraham Hummer (age 24) and Mary A Hummer (age 20) lived at Menallen Twp, Adams County, Pennsylvania with Ida E (age 2) and William S (age 1). [6] [7]

1866 Abraham B. Hummer died on May 31 at Bendersville, Adams County, Pennsylvania and was buried at Mummasburg Mennonite Cemetery, Franklin Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania. Abraham B. Hummer was born on July 30, 1837. [8] [9]

He married Mary Ann Johnson and fathered Ida E. (b. @1858) and William A. (b. 06/21/59). In 1860, he was a blacksmith living in Menallen Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania, and stood 5' 8" tall with dark hair and blue eyes.

A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Bendersville, Adams County, August 9, 1862, mustered into federal service at Harrisburg August 22 as a private with Co. G, 138th Pennsylvania Infantry, and discharged by surgeon's certificate February 8, 1863.

The son of Adam & Anna Maria (Rahm) Walter, in 1850 he lived with and/or worked for innkeeper George Stover in Franklin Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania. He married Mary Ann Johnson and fathered Ida E. (b. @1858) and William A. (b. 06/21/59). In 1860, he was a blacksmith living in Menallen Township, Adams County, and stood 5' 8" tall with dark hair and blue eyes.

A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Bendersville, Adams County, August 9, 1862, and mustered into federal service at Harrisburg August 22 as a private with Co. G, 138th Pennsylvania Infantry. He was discharged by surgeon's certificate February 8, 1863, from Relay Barracks, Maryland, officially for an inguinal hernia, but he also had a lung ailment that apparently killed him.

1866 Mary Ann Hummer renounced (declined) administration of the estate of Abraham B. Hummer on June 14. Witnessed by Alfred D Johnson. [10]

1870 Samuel Johnson (age 66) and Johanna (age 49) lived in Menallen Twp, Adams County, Pennsylvania with Ida Hummer (age 12) and Wilbert Hummer (age 11). [11] [12]

1878 Joannah Johnson died and was buried at Bendersville Cemetery, Bendersville, Adams County, Pennsylvania. Joannah Johnson was born in 1820. [13] [14]

1884 Samuel Johnson died on February 15 at age 80y 6m 9d and was buried at Bendersville Cemetery, Bendersville, Adams County, Pennsylvania. Samuel Johnson was born in 1804. [15] [16] [17]

1886 Son Alfred D. Johnson died on August 30 at Mechanicsburg, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania and was buried at Old Graveyard, Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. Alfred D. Johnson was born in 1846. [18][19]

The son of Samuel & Joanna Johnson, in 1860 he was a saddler living in Butler Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania. He stood 5' 8" tall and had light hair and gray eyes.

A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Bendersville, Adams County, August 15, 1862, overstating his age by two years, and mustered into federal service at Harrisburg August 22 as a private with Co. G, 138th Pennsylvania Infantry. On August 8, 1864, he was admitted to Patterson Park U.S. Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, suffering with "coup de soliel" (sunburn) but returned to duty October 7, and honorably discharged with his company June 23, 1865.

The sudden and startling death of Alfred D Johnson was announced in the SENTINEL from Mechanicsburg yesterday afternoon. He had been out driving with Mr Fink, and they had just returned to the stable when the stoke came on. He called to Mr Fink, who caught him as he fell, and had him taken into the office, where he was laid on a settee and Dr Mosser sent for, but before he arrived the vital spark had fled: The physician pronounced the cause of death heart disease. Mr Johnson had been a loyal soldier in the late war, having enlisted in Capt Mullen's company in the 138th regiment, Pennsylvania volunteers. His age was 38, The remains will be brought to Carlisle on the 11.59 train to-morrow for interment.

1888 A pension application for the Civil War service of Abraham Hammer named widow Mary A Walker and minor Ida E Warren et al. [20]

1894 Mary Ann Johnson Hummer Walker died on November 27 at Gettysburg, Adams County, Pennsylvania and was buried at Bendersville Cemetery, Bendersville, Adams County, Pennsylvania. Mary Ann Johnson Hummer Walker was born on January 30, 1841. [21] [22]

1927 Ida Warren, daughter of Abe Hummons and Mary Ann Johnsor, died on December 17, 1927, at age 70, in Gettysburg, Adams County, Pennsylvania. Ida Warren was born on November 19, 1857, in Adams County, Pennsylvania. [23]

1933 William Hummer, son of Abraham Hummer and Mary Ann Johnson, died on April 29, at Gettysburg, Adams County, Pennsylvania. [24]

1880 Samuel Johnson (age 77, born in Pennsylvania, married) lived in Menallen Twp, Adams County, Pennsylvania, in a household with Sarah Johnson (age 60). Samuel Johnson's parents were both born in Pennsylvania. Samuel Johnson's occupation was farmer. [25]
