1643 James Hart matriculated on April 28 in St Salvator's College of St Andrews University. [1]

1657/58 "November 24 Mr James Heart & Catherine Prince wer contracted be Mr John Gibson minister at Holme Thomas Wilsone George Spence and Patrick Halcro eldars. Cautioners George Heart writtar and Thomas Wilsone bailie. Janurary 28. 1658. They wer married be Mr William Cochran" in Kirkwall, Scotland. [2] [3]

1682 James Heart was admitted as a burgess and guild brother in Edinburgh. [4]

1694 James Gordoun and Marjorie Heart were married on June 26 in Shapinsay, Orkney, Scotland. [5]

1695 Edward Prinnce and Barbra Heart were married on October 29 in Shapinsay, Orkney, Scotland. [6]

"Heart, James b. about 1620, prob. S. of David Heart of Rusland, a notary public, Kirkwall. Inc. [incumbent] Westray, 3 June 1657 (called Nov. 1656). Inc. Shapinsay, 3 May 1689-1703. Consented and subscribed to the call of his successor, 2 Dec. 1703, when he was over 83 years of age. Cited on 'List of Ministers who have not complied with the present Church Government', 1707. marr. 28 June 1658, Catherine Prince; issue: David; Robert, surgeon, Portsmouth; Jean. [Fasti Ecclesiae Scoticanae; Christie MSS: Dean William Leslie Christie's notes on eighteenth-century clergy. "Shapinsay: James Heart, born about 1620, 1689 Probably son of David H. of Rusland, a notary public, Kirkwall; ord. to Westray 3rd June 1656 ; trans, and inst. 3rd May 1689; consented and subscribed to the call of his successor 2nd Dec. 1703, when he was over 83 years of age. He marr. 28th June 1658, Catherine Prince, and had issue—David; Robert, surgeon, Portsmouth; Jean. — [Index to Services; Acts of Ass., 1703; Kirkwall Marr.
