The Winebrenner genealogy by Gibbony (1942) includes extensive details about four of Philip's children and reports the following [1] [2]:
He [Philip] was born December 4, 1759 near Hanover, York County Pa, a son of Johann Christian Winebrenner. When a young man he moved to Maryland, locating on a farm in Glade Valley, Woodsborough District, Frederick Co. where he lived for many years, and died December 11, 1841 aged 82 years. ...He ... acquired a fine farm of some 200 acres on which he built a spacious stone mansion in 1810, replacing the log house in which all his children were born. He married Eve C Barrick of Frederick County, who was born June 1, 1857, and who died September 14, 1831 aged 74 years. Both Philip and his wife are buried in the Glades Reformed Church grave yard, of which church they had been members for so many years... From the writings of John Winebrenner, we find he says "My parents had six children, four sons and two daughters … "
1823 Christian Winebrenner (a son of Philip) and Harriet Rice (daughter of James Rice and Catherine Dern) were married on December 3. They had children George A. and Mary C. Winebrenner. [3] George A. Winebrenner later lived in Ohio and had financial dealings with Amos Rice (brother of Harriett). [4] Christian had children David C. and Reverdy J. Winebrenner by a subsequent marriage. [5]
1831 Philip Winebrenner (Could this be the fourth son of Philip?) purchased a house from the heirs of James Rice on part of lot 29 of Monocracy Manor near Israel's Creek Methodist Cemetery, Walkersville, Frederick County, Maryland. Henry Barrick (perhaps a relative of Eve) gave testimony at an equity hearing concerning the property. [6]
1841 Christian Winebrenner, Ezra Cramer, Robert Nelson, and Elias Scholl signed a bond for $20,000 to the state of Maryland for the estate of Philip Winebrenner. Dated December 27, 1841. [7]
