Mr. Ritner was born in Washington county, this State, and some years since, resided with his father at Mount Rock, in this county:
"A GOOD MAN GONE.-In Brooklyn, Wednesday evening, of consumption, died Mr. Michael Ritner, in the fiftyeighth year of his age. Mr. Ritner was a son of Ex-Governor Joseph Ritner, of Pennsylvania ; by profession, a civil engineer, and for five years acting as chief engineer of the Morris and Essex railroad. Professionally, he had no superiors, and but few equals. He Was considered one of the best "locating" railroad engineers in the country. No elaborate eulogium is necessary in speaking of his life. His fidelity to principle was the one remarkable feature in his character. Simple in his habits, absolutely free from any vices from his youth up, he ever wore the "white flower of a blameless life, " always showing consideration for the feelings of others, and following out the injunction "Good will towards men." He made hosts of friends, and died regretted by a large number outside of bis ire mediate family circle.".
