Thomas Stokes was born on November 5, 1711 and married, in 1741, Abigail, daughter of John, son of William Matlack, the emigrant, by his second wife Mary Lee. [1]

1734 On 7 of month 9, Rachel Stokes, daughter of Thomas Stokes of Gloucester County, married John Cowperthwaite at the Haddonfield meeting house. Witnessed by Thomas and Rachel Stocks and Thomas Stocks and others. [4]

1741 Thomas Stokes witnessed the will of John Kay of Waterford, Gloucester County. [9]

1747 Thomas Stokes was named in the will of brother Benjamin Stokes. [10]

A Stokes genealogy reports: Thomas Stokes, son of Thomas Stokes and Rachel Wright, was born on May 9, 1711. Thomas Stokes and Abigail Matlack were married in 1741. [11]
